Applications for ECS gold cards from the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme have had a significant increase in 2017, with the trend looking likely to carry on.
In total the scheme in England, Wales and Northern Ireland now has over 120,000 cardholders, ranging from apprentices to electricians and managers. In addition to the electrical occupations, the ECS also covers other electrotechnical disciplines such as fire, management and partner cards.
To date, over 5,500 electricians have opted to recognise their skills through the ECS Registered Electrician scheme which was launched in 2017.
Over all the scheme is good news for the industry, as it reflects a significant rise in the number of operatives looking to recognise their skills.
